PJPastor John L. Butler is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Living Water Christian Center Church (LWC3) located in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
He was born in Albemarle, North Carolina, (hometown is Badin, N.C) and raised as the seventh child to Reverend Frank R. Butler Sr. and Doris Ann Hinson Butler. He was reared in the church of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Matthew 16:18).
Biography
Pastor John L. Butler is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Living Water Christian Center
Church (LWC3) located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was born in Albemarle, North Carolina,
and raised in Badin, North Carolina, as the seventh of eight children born to Reverend Frank R.
Butler Sr. and Doris Ann Hinson Butler.
He was nurtured in the church of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Matthew 16:18). His
formative years were spent attending Garris Grove Missionary Baptist Church located in
Wadesboro, North Carolina, where his father served as Senior Pastor for fifteen-plus years and
the church communities of Stanly and Anson counties. This experience is reflected in the Biblical
principles Pastor John employs today.
Of the numerous men and women who impacted his life, none were more profound than
his mother. Her influence, inspiration, and commitment to model the love of Jesus are
unsurpassed and serve as the cornerstone for the acceptance of God’s call on his life. Daily, she
taught Pastor John the attributes of God through the practical application of her prayer and work
life, as well as the innumerable amount of time invested in overcoming the personal challenges
she faced. This was all accomplished while simultaneously being a wife, phenomenal Mother,
Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, friend, confidant, and most of all, an awesome Woman of God. To
Pastor John, she exemplified the call, embraced the walk, and touched the lives of many.
Pastor John brings over thirty (34) years of Church leadership experience to Pastoring
Living Water Christian Center Church. Under God’s guidance for twenty-seven years, Pastor
John was a servant at multiple ministries associated with his active-duty military assignments
before retiring (Chief Warrant Officer Five (CW5)) in September 2015. This diverse path of
destiny allowed him to serve in various positions within the church infrastructure, including
Outreach Ministry Coordinator, Men’s and Mass Choir Director and President, Church Finance
Officer, Men’s Ministry President, Pastor of Education, Associate Pastor, and Pastor.
Pastor John oversees LWC3 Men’s Ministry, which facilitates workshops, monthly
meetings, and ongoing fellowships to mentor men and build strong families. He is a third-
generation pastor who has the heart to teach God’s people with simplicity and power. His
ordained assignment is to minister to the whole man, spirit, soul, and body with emphasis on
faith, family, and fellowship.
Pastor John holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business Management from the
University of Phoenix and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Strayer University.
Pastor John is currently a student at Liberty University (LU) pursuing his Doctor of Education in
Christian Leadership (EdD).
Pastor John and his wife Melanie have been married for thirty-four (34) years and reside
in Northern Virginia. They have four awesome children, Brittany, Joshua, Jacob, and Jemiah,
and four wonderful grandchildren, Noah James Wilson, Tristan Zeke Wilson, Kaleia Jade Butler,
and Rinoa Kapri Butler.
